Year Five Blues…

IMG_9592It was mini-me’s first day back at school today. She’s in Year Five. I’m traumatised!! Year five means she’s no longer in year four, year five means double digits, year five means another year closer to secondary school, year five means time is moving too fast and my baby is getting too big too soon!

According to “some” year five isn’t a landmark year, according to “some” year five isn’t that big a deal, according to “SOME” year five isn’t as bad as year six, or year seven or even reception…

I’m not trying to compete with you, all i’m saying is that MY BABY is in year five, and that for me is enough of a landmark, as will it be when she’s in every other year to come *side-eyes “some” until “some” feels uncomfortable and walks away*

Year 5 is huge ! She’ll love it ! I remember when I was younger how much my mum cried at each landmark with school , even after completing UNI she still cried on my grad day ! Xx

She just gets on with it whilst I’m traumatised!! I think I’ll be the MOST annoying uni mum! X

Amen to this! I feel exactly and will always feel exactly the same way, even though my son has only begun reception I think every year will always – ALWAYS mark that they gain more independence, growing to become their own little person. And it’s utterly heartbreaking! So *also side eyes “some” until they scamper off with tail between legs*

Yes deffo it’s great to have the structure but the new school year is such a significant marker of growing and becoming more independent! You’ll have to have another!! 👀

Haha, I’m with you! Year 5 IS. A big one… We did year 5 last year and I freaked because it meant that the kid was really nearly a teenager. Year 5 preps you for year 6 which preps for secondary school… This a MASSIVE! I’m sure she’ll/you’ll be fine though 👊🏽
